BLACKHAT — Funeral services for Nora W. James, 92, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at the Cope Memorial Chapter. The Rev. Joe Yazzie Jr. will officiate.
James died Sept. 28, 2011, in Fort Defiance, Ariz. She was born May 11, 1919, in Fort Defiance into the Salt People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
James enjoyed going to church and revivals. She loved to be with her family especially her grandchildren. James was a weaver.
Survivors include her sons Francis, Lorenzo, Benjamin, Henderson and Raymond, all of Blackhat, and stepson Andrew, of Mentmore; daughters Edith James, Sadie Tom, Sarah Arnold, Gladys Yazzie, all of Blackhat, and Marie Miller and Helen Felson, both of Rocksprings; brother Juan Watson, of Blackhat; sister Clara Yazzie, of Blackhat; 41 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Jimmie James Sr.; husband Noel James; grandsons Wesley Tom and Scott Bryant; parents Tom and Mary Scott Watson; brother John Kee Watson and sisters Lillie and Alice Watson.
Pallbearers will be Daric Kalleco, Darin Kalleco, Johnathan Yazzie, Roy Yazzie, Joe Yazzie III and Byron Felson.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Tsayatoh Chapter following the services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
